
Heidi Watney (born May 19, 1981) is an American sportscaster, who also serves as a reporter for Apple TV+. Her past experience in sportscasting includes assignments at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles), and two stations in Fresno. Watney was a Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She competed in gymnastics as well as hurdles and diving. One of her achievements was being an National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic scholarship. There, she graduated with honors in 2003. Watney was the Miss California USA 2002 runner-up. Watney is the mother of professional golfer Nick Watney. Seven years ago, Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel said that Watney was his first name, and was the one who invented the character Mark Watney from it. The name was mentioned during an Red Sox broadcast. Watney appears in the music video of Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style". She was also featured as a reporter in the sideline of the games on video MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20 and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
